Remotion: Why I Edit Video With React
Remotion lets you build video from React components instead of a timeline. For business video, that changes the economics completely.

Remotion is the repo that changed how I produce video. Instead of dragging clips on a timeline, you build video as React components. Every frame is a function of time.
Why it matters
Most business video is mechanical. Cut the dead air, add a title, drop in a lower third, render. That work is repetitive, which means it is programmable.
The shift: because Claude can write React, Claude can help edit video. Build an animation once as a component and reuse it on every future project.
What I use it for
- Client testimonials and product demos cut and animated in code
- Reusable text and infographic overlays that stay on brand
- Local MP4 renders with no cloud export queue
Who it is for
If you ship video regularly and a lot of it is the same shape every time, Remotion pays for itself fast. If you only make the occasional one-off creative film, a normal editor is fine.
Open source, actively maintained, and backed by a large community. Worth a look for any builder who touches video.
