About me

My name is Marcus, I’m 26 years old with a bachelor’s degree in E-commerce and a background that includes military service. I am fluent in both Danish and English and have a strong passion for business, e-commerce, AI, and automation.

As a freelancer, I have honed strong adaptability and a quick learning ability, enabling me to excel in diverse challenges.

Having gained hands-on experience across various aspects of business operations, I possess a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to succeed in different roles. This broad perspective allows me to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and understand their tasks on a deeper level.

Since 2018, I’ve built a broad portfolio while working independently alongside my studies and career. My experience spans film production, photography, graphic design, coding, e-commerce, marketing, SEO, UX/UI, and CRO.

In 2025, I am focusing on larger projects in e-commerce, AI, and automation to build a strong foundation for the future. To achieve this, I have decided to move away from smaller tasks. While my portfolio highlights a diverse skill set, I am now dedicating my expertise to three core areas: e-commerce, AI, and automation.

2019: Hobby E-com I tried - XKeys (Sold prouct keys)

What started as a school project ended up being the spark for a small business. The business grew to a point where we had a programmer help us develop software to automate the wholesale process. However, we were very inexperienced, made a lot of mistakes along the way, and eventually decided to close it.

Nem Digital was my first real business, complete with accounting, a partner, and a VAT number. It was thriving, but my partner secured a deal with a large company and decided to close the business.

The business primarily involved creating websites and handling some marketing work. We also realized that websites were a highly competitive market, with short customer retention periods, which meant we constantly had to find new clients.

One of the clients we acquired through Nem Digital was a company for whom I created numerous websites, primarily when they needed project showcases for some of their larger real estate projects.

Kirk Kapital is a major fund owned by the Kirk family (Family of the founders of LEGO). This was by far the largest Danish client I have ever had the honor to work with. The client came to us through Nem Digital, and we created a website for a significant real estate project in Aarhus, Denmark, called Nikolinehus.

Warberg Klinikken is a client based in the capital of Denmark. I created their entire website and helped them generate leads through an AI chatbot I set up.

A better climate might seem like an unusual market to step into considering my interests. The business focused on selling heat pumps and was established as a project in collaboration with a long-term client of mine, Nordic Refrigeration Solution. They wanted to transition more into the B2C market and saw us as a potential partner. I decided to step out of the business because my partner moved to the USA, and internal communication started to suffer. However, the brand is still operational, and I continue to work with it, although I no longer own any part of it. The company has been running healthily, generating revenue across multiple channels and exceeding 2 million.

Sinful is a large e-commerce business dominating the sex toy market in the Nordics. Yes, you read that right. An unconventional workplace, but also a place where I learned a great deal about Google Ads and collaborating with various teams. The internship lasted six months and concluded with a top-grade final project for my graduation.

This was more or less a freelance project. I worked on tasks such as converting code for an HTML website for an offshore company in Dubai called Global Fuel Supply, along with other smaller assignments. It was always intended to be just a few tasks, which is why my time there was short. Additionally, the owner scaled the business too quickly without much communication, ultimately deciding to shut it down.

Villa Vie Residences is a new project in the USA. It’s a cruise ship where you can live and own a cabin. I have freelanced for them for some time, helping them generate leads through Google Ads channels. This work has been carried out through my own company, “Volsted Consulting.”

At the beginning of 2024, it dawned on me that I had too many tasks going on at once. I decided to focus on cutting back to the essentials to scale projects to a higher level. Ørskov Gruppen was a good workplace. The company had a large division and a smaller division in my hometown. Unfortunately, the smaller division started to dissolve shortly after I joined. One colleague decided to go traveling, and another was headhunted for a better-paying job. This created a domino effect, and suddenly, I was left alone in the department. I had the choice to stay and rebuild everything, but I felt the situation was a bit chaotic at the time. Shortly after, I received three new job offers and accepted the one where I became the CMO for Nordic Refrigeration.

Nordic Refrigeration Solution is probably my oldest client, as I got them almost right after we started Nem Digital, and we’ve maintained a relationship ever since. I have created five webshops for them and also helped some of their competitors. Through working for them, I have learned a lot about Google Ads, e-commerce, SEO, and CRO. It’s also where I later became a full-time employee.

Nordic Refrigeration Solution is a company I have worked with for many years, creating more than five webshops for them. I’ve learned a lot through my collaboration with them. They valued my work so much that we decided it was time for me to join them full-time, where I now help with essentially everything related to their online presence.

I help them with their webshops, economy and invoicing, SEO, marketing, lead nurturing, and everything in between.

Education

2006 - 2015: Elementary school

Just a minimum required education in Denmark.

The IT and Communication program – included, among other things, coding, video production, and databases.

Although I was only in the military for four months, it taught me a lot about discipline, teamwork, ensuring no one is left to handle something alone, and showing up sharp and on time. Many of these lessons can be reflected in everyday life.

Throughout my education, I have worked extensively in practice with real companies and their challenges. The program has taught me a lot and provided me with many tools to work with. (Grade: 10 in the final exam)

My Bachelor’s degree provided me with a wealth of knowledge and tools to specialize in e-commerce, customer journeys, consumer behavior, SEO, marketing, target audiences, best practices, and what it takes to run a successful business.

My work-experince

Shopify

I have worked in Shopify for various stores and have experience with Liquid. I have also created my own stores on the platform.

AI & Automation

Har arbejdet i Shopify til flere forskellige stores, som har givet mig kendskab til diverse funktioner i CMS systemet.

Abobe

Extensive knowledge of various Adobe programs, primarily Adobe XD, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, and InDesign.

Code

I have basic coding skills and enjoy working with HTML, CSS, and some JavaScript. I particularly like customizing WordPress with CSS and creating custom code in Shopify.

UX / UI & CRO

Creation of responsive designs for apps, websites, and webshops, with a focus on user-friendliness and behavior, optimized for CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization).

Google Ads

Primarily work with Search Ads and Google Shopping Ads, managing large budgets exceeding 1 million DKK.

SEO

Knowledge and understanding of on-page and technical SEO, including how Google crawlers read and rank your content. Expertise in using powerful tools to improve rankings.

Wordpress

5+ years of experience with WordPress, working as an independent professional. Proficient in dynamic functionalities, basic PHP, and the overall infrastructure of WordPress.

Meta Ads

Primarily work with Search, Shopping and YouTube Ads, managing large budgets exceeding 100k Danish Krones.

Grafisk design

Experience in graphic design, including logos, illustrations, business cards, posters, banners, tattoo mock-ups, and more.

Photo - & Video

I have experience with manual photography, color grading with digital cameras, and shooting video—primarily for hobby purposes.

Tracking

I have worked with Google Tag Manager and general tracking codes in connection with Google Ads and website development.
